Francisco Miguel Escandell Rico, Aránzazu Canales Rodríguez , Ana Martin Matas, Lucia Pérez Fernandez Copyright (c) 2025 RqR Quantitative and Qualitative Community Nursing Research https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://rqr.seapaonline.org/index.php/rqr/article/view/88 Fri, 27 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000 THE EXPERIENCES ON THE USE OF TECHNOLOGIES IN SCHOOLCHILDREN https://rqr.seapaonline.org/index.php/rqr/article/view/68
Aim: The main aim of this research was to investigate the experiences and usage of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) among primary education students in the Basic Health Zone of Torrijos (Toledo, Spain).

Methods: A qualitative study was conducted, consisting of 3 focus groups interviews with a total of 18 sixth-grade Primary Education students. The participants were selected based on representative profiles of the study population. The data obtained were coded using the Atlas-Tip software, and the information was grouped around the categories related to the objectives.

Results: Information was obtained regarding the usage of ICT in the following thematic areas: experiences and impact on daily life (usage time, types of devices, parental control); reasons for using ICT (entertainment, education, communication/socializing, work, social media, and video games); and consequences of ICT usage (physical, mental, behavioral, and social consequences, addiction, potential problems, and associated risks).

Conclusion: ICT is an integral part of the daily life of the students, and they are capable of identifying appropriate usage time and sharing experiences of excessive usage when it interferes with their studies or family life.
Objective: To describe the satisfaction of patients and primary care nurses who have undergone an intensive and protocolised follow-up programme for patients who have had a recent myocardial infarction (AMI).
Methodology: Cross-sectional descriptive study within a quasi-experimental, multicentre, before and after, without a control group. A total of 219 patients between 40-70 years old diagnosed with AMI were included. The programme was completed by 132 patients. 59 nurses from health centres were involved. Intensive follow-up was carried out for 12 months with 11 nursing consultations. They used a Cardiovascular Self-Care Notebook as a tool in the self-management of cardiovascular disease. The level of satisfaction was measured at the end of the programme with an ad hoc questionnaire with closed and open questions assessing the follow-up protocol and the use of the self-care notebook.
Results: The nurses considered the protocolised follow-up and the care provided to be relevant (90.1%). More than 85% rated the improvement of the therapeutic relationship as very/very important. The notebook was very useful and beneficial in supporting patient follow-up (90.1%) and in improving self-care compliance. Patients confirmed that they were very satisfied (87.8%) with the professionalism and time spent. 88.8% increased their knowledge and adherence to self-care. 96.9% would recommend the program.
Conclusions: Patients and nurses valued carrying out an adequate intensive follow-up as soon as possible after suffering an AMI as very positive, since patients perceived an improvement in the management of their disease, while nurses observed a better empowerment of cardiovascular self-care.

Ángel Lizcano Álvarez, Laura Carretero Julian, Juana Gómez Puente, Laura López Kollmer Copyright (c) 2025 RqR Quantitative and Qualitative Community Nursing Research https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://rqr.seapaonline.org/index.php/rqr/article/view/77 Fri, 27 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Implementation of two structured nurse-led education programs to improve glycemic control in people with diabetes https://rqr.seapaonline.org/index.php/rqr/article/view/96
Objective
To analyze the effect of two nurse-led educational interventions on glycemic control in individuals with diabetes mellitus.

Methodology
A retrospective, single-group, non-randomized study conducted in a hospital in southern Spain. Adult individuals with diabetes treated with insulin participated. Two progressive educational programs were implemented: one basic and one advanced, both with a person-centered approach focused on health improvement.

Results
Seventy-eight individuals completed the study. Statistically significant differences in glycated hemoglobin levels were observed at all measurement points. The effect size was large.

Conclusion
Structured nurse-led education improves glycemic control and represents an effective tool for strengthening complication prevention and health promotion at the community level, reinforcing the active role of nursing in supporting individuals with chronic diseases.
Carmen Amelia Ruiz Trillo, Pilar Santa Cruz-Álvarez, Carmen Gamero-Dorado, Ana Pérez-Morales, Ana Cortés-Lerena, Mónica Enríquez-Macías, Fátima Farfan-Díaz, Miguel Copyright (c) 2025 RqR Quantitative and Qualitative Community Nursing Research https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://rqr.seapaonline.org/index.php/rqr/article/view/96 Fri, 27 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Health results of caregivers after a continuous group educational intervention strategy https://rqr.seapaonline.org/index.php/rqr/article/view/63
Background: The increase in life expectancy and chronic diseases has elevated the complexity and burden of caring for chronic patients. This study evaluates a group educational intervention aimed at caregivers of these patients, focusing on their perceptions of burden, mental health, quality of life, and health literacy.

Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a control group was used. The experimental group participated in a 16-session workshop, while the control group received no intervention. Caregiver burden (Zarit Burden Interview), mental health (Goldberg Anxiety and Depression Scales), quality of life (EQ-5D-5L), family caregiver quality of life (ICUB-97-R), and acquired knowledge were assessed before and after the workshop, as well as at 3-month follow-up.

Results: A total of 37 participants (mean age 55.2 years) took part, 35.1% of whom had been caregivers for over 10 years. The results showed significant improvements in knowledge acquisition post-intervention (p=0.033) in favour of the experimental group. Intragroup results demonstrated a significant improvement in the impact of caregiving (ICUB-97-R repercussion subscale) in the experimental group post-intervention (p=0.023) and a significant worsening in caregiver burden and anxiety in the control group. At follow-up, there were significant improvements in anxiety and depression in the experimental group. Additionally, 78% of caregivers rated the workshop sessions positively.

Conclusion: Group workshops demonstrated beneficial effects on the caregivers' well-being and caregiving capacity. However, strategies are needed to sustain these benefits in the long term.
María Paula Martín-Andrade , Aroa Camejo-Guerra , Dolores María Ruano-López , Raquel del Rosario Medina-Ponce, Andrea Duarte-Díaz , Beatriz Candela-Angulo , Francisco J.
